1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ThenAllocate ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and House of Then, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), a California limited liability company.

2. Description of Service

ThenAllocate is a personal finance awareness application that enables users to:

• Connect bank accounts and credit cards via Plaid to import real transaction data
• Tag and categorize transactions using a personal Narrative and Alignment framework
• Organize spending into Provisions (personal value categories) and Ledger Tags
• Conduct weekly financial reflections to identify patterns and intentionality
• Add manual accounts and transactions for cash or unlinked accounts
• View balance history, spending flows, and reserve tracking over time
• Apply rules to automatically categorize recurring transactions

The App is designed as a tool for personal financial awareness and intentional spending—not budgeting, financial advice, or investment management.

3. User Accounts

No Account Required

ThenAllocate operates without requiring user account creation. Your data is stored locally on your device and identified only through anonymous device identifiers for premium subscription management and Plaid connection authentication.

Bank Connection Authentication

When you connect a bank account, Plaid handles the authentication process directly with your financial institution. ThenAllocate uses App Attest to verify the authenticity of the app communicating with our relay server. We do not store your banking credentials.

Premium Subscription Management

• Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID
• RevenueCat handles subscription verification using anonymous identifiers
• No personal account information is stored on our servers

4. Premium Services (ThenAllocate+)

ThenAllocate+ Premium Subscription

Prices may vary by region and are subject to change. Current pricing is always displayed in the App Store.

As an alternative to ThenAllocate+, you may purchase ThenBecome, a suite subscription that unlocks premium features across all Then apps (ThenCommit, ThenAudit, ThenFocus, ThenObserve, ThenAllocate, and future ThenBecome suite apps).

ThenBecome is subject to the same billing, renewal, and refund terms as ThenAllocate+. If you subscribe to both ThenAllocate+ and ThenBecome, you will be billed for both subscriptions. We do not have the ability to cancel subscriptions on your behalf, and you must do so yourself. ThenBecome includes all features of ThenAllocate+, so a separate ThenAllocate+ subscription is not necessary when subscribed to ThenBecome.

Billing and Renewal

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at purchase confirmation
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends
• Renewal charges occur within 24 hours prior to the current period's end
• Manage subscriptions in your Apple ID Account Settings

Free Trial

Free trial periods may be offered at our discretion and are not guaranteed. If a trial is offered and you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be automatically charged the subscription price.

Refunds

All purchases are final. Refunds are handled according to Apple's App Store policies.

5. Bank Account Connections and Financial Data

IMPORTANT: READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY BEFORE CONNECTING BANK ACCOUNTS

Plaid Integration

ThenAllocate uses Plaid Technologies, Inc. ("Plaid") to connect to your financial institutions and retrieve transaction data. By connecting a bank account, you agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy at https://plaid.com/legal/end-user-privacy-policy and authorize ThenAllocate to retrieve your transaction history, account balances, and account information through Plaid.

What Data Is Retrieved

When you connect a bank account, ThenAllocate retrieves through Plaid:

• Transaction history (amounts, dates, merchant names, categories)
• Account names, types, and last four digits of account numbers
• Current and available balances
• Institution name and identifiers

What We Do Not Retrieve or Store

• Your banking username or password
• Full account numbers or routing numbers
• Social Security numbers or government identifiers
• Credit scores or credit reports
• Investment holdings or retirement account details beyond basic balance information

Relay Server

ThenAllocate operates a relay server that facilitates communication between the App and Plaid's API. All App-to-server communication is authenticated using Apple's App Attest framework, ensuring only legitimate, unmodified copies of ThenAllocate can retrieve your financial data. The relay server processes requests in real time and does not persistently store your raw transaction data—your financial data is stored locally on your device.

Data Sync and Accuracy

• Transaction data is synced from Plaid when you refresh or open the App
• Synced data reflects what your financial institution reports to Plaid, which may differ from your actual account statement
• Transaction data may be delayed, pending, or subject to revision by your financial institution
• We are not responsible for inaccuracies, omissions, or delays in data provided by Plaid or your financial institution

Disconnecting Accounts

You may disconnect a bank connection at any time through the Accounts tab. Disconnecting removes the Plaid Item from ThenAllocate but does not automatically revoke Plaid's access to your financial institution. To fully revoke Plaid's access, visit your financial institution's connected apps settings or Plaid's data portal at https://my.plaid.com.

Reconnecting Accounts

If a bank connection expires or requires re-authentication, ThenAllocate will prompt you to reconnect. When you reconnect the same institution, ThenAllocate attempts to merge the new connection with your existing account data and preserve your allocation history.

User Responsibility for Bank Connections

By connecting bank accounts, you acknowledge and agree that:

1. You are the authorized account holder for any accounts you connect, or have explicit authorization from the account holder to connect those accounts.
2. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, as anyone with access to your device can view your connected financial data within the App.
3. You will promptly disconnect any accounts you no longer authorize ThenAllocate to access.
4. House of Then, LLC is not responsible for any unauthorized access to your financial data that results from your device being lost, stolen, or accessed by others.

6. Financial Data Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: ThenAllocate is a personal awareness tool, not a financial advisory service.

• The App is NOT intended to provide financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice
• Allocation tags, Narrative labels, Provision categories, and Alignment classifications are personal reflections you assign—they are not financial recommendations
• The App does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any financial data retrieved via Plaid
• Do not make significant financial decisions based solely on data or insights presented in this App
• Consult a qualified financial advisor, accountant, or tax professional for financial guidance
• Reserve tracking, net flow summaries, and balance history are informational only and may not reflect your actual financial position
• ThenAllocate is not a budgeting tool and does not enforce spending limits or financial plans

7. Allocation Methodology

Personal Framework

ThenAllocate's allocation system uses personal categories you define:

• Alignment Tags: Aligned, Reserve, Overhead, Leak — your personal classification of spending intent
• Narratives: Personal labels you assign to transactions (e.g., "Morning coffee", "Monthly rent")
• Provisions: Personal value categories representing what your spending serves. Preset Provision templates are available to all users; custom Provision creation and editing requires premium.
• Ledger Tags: Custom organizational tags for grouping transactions (premium feature)

These frameworks represent your personal perspective on your spending and are not standardized financial categories.

User Responsibility

• The allocation system is a tool for personal reflection, not professional financial advice
• Results and insights depend on your consistent and honest tagging
• The App does not guarantee specific financial outcomes or behavioral changes
• You are responsible for how you interpret and act on allocation insights

Weekly Reflection

The weekly reflection feature is designed as a personal ritual of financial awareness. It is not a formal financial review, audit, or report, and should not be treated as such.

8. User Conduct

You agree to:

• Use the App only for lawful purposes
• Only connect bank accounts for which you are an authorized account holder
• Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the App or relay server
• Not attempt to bypass App Attest authentication or abuse the relay server
• Not use the App to harass, harm, or violate the rights of others
• Not circumvent or manipulate subscription verification
• Not share or distribute premium features to non-subscribers
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those governing financial data

9. Intellectual Property

Our Property

• The ThenAllocate name, logo, and branding
• The App's design, interface, and user experience
• The Narrative, Provision, Alignment, and Ledger Tag framework and methodology
• All code, algorithms, and technical implementations including the relay server
• Marketing materials and documentation

Your Content

You retain ownership of your transaction tags, Narrative labels, Provision names, notes, and allocation data. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store your content locally on your device, display your content within the App, and process your data as necessary to provide App services.

We do not claim rights to your personal allocation data and will not use it for marketing, training, or other purposes.

Feedback

Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide about the App may be used by us without compensation or attribution.

10. Privacy and Data

Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the App, you agree to our Privacy Policy, available at: https://houseofthen.com/pages/thenallocate-privacy-policy

Plaid Technologies, Inc.

12. Health and Wellness Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: ThenAllocate is not a medical or therapeutic device. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition or disease. Do not use the App as a substitute for professional mental health care or financial counseling. If you experience financial distress or anxiety while using the App, discontinue use and seek professional support.

13. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF CONTENT, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

We do not warrant that the App will meet your requirements, will be available at all times, that data retrieved from Plaid or your financial institution will be accurate, complete, or timely, that data will never be lost or corrupted, that all bugs or errors will be corrected, or that the relay server will be available at all times.

Financial data displayed in ThenAllocate is retrieved from third-party sources (Plaid, your financial institutions) and may contain errors, omissions, delays, or inaccuracies. Do not rely on this data for financial decisions.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, House of Then, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or use; business interruption; personal injury or emotional distress; errors or omissions in financial data; financial decisions made based on App data or insights; inaccuracies in transaction data retrieved via Plaid; relay server downtime or data transmission failures; or unauthorized access to financial data resulting from device loss or compromise. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless House of Then, LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use or misuse of the App, your connection of bank accounts you are not authorized to access, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any third-party rights, any content you create or submit through the App, or your violation of applicable laws or regulations, including financial data laws.

16. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and provide in-app notification for significant changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with changes, stop using the App and cancel any subscriptions.

17. Termination

Your Rights

• Delete the App from your device
• Disconnect all bank accounts through the Accounts tab
• Cancel any active subscriptions

Our Rights

We may terminate or suspend your access for violations of these Terms, fraud, abuse, misuse of the relay server, or upon legal requirement.

Effects of Termination

• Your right to use the App ceases immediately
• Local data remains on your device until you delete it
• Disconnecting the App does not revoke Plaid's access to your financial institution — you must do this separately via your institution or https://my.plaid.com
• No refunds for unused subscription time (per App Store policy)
• Sections intended to survive (e.g., Limitation of Liability, Financial Data Disclaimer) remain in effect

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and the United States of America. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of California. You waive any objection to jurisdiction or venue in these courts.

Arbitration

Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the commercial arbitration rules of the American Arbitration Association.

Class Action Waiver

You agree to bring claims only in your individual capacity and not as part of any class or representative action.

20. Miscellaneous

Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and House of Then, LLC regarding the App.

Severability

If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.

Assignment

You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them without restriction.

Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

By using ThenAllocate, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, including the Bank Account Connection terms and Financial Data Disclaimer.

1. Our Privacy Promise

Your financial data is deeply personal. ThenAllocate is built on a local-first model — your transaction history, allocation tags, Narratives, Provisions, and reflections live on your device, not on our servers.

When you connect a bank account, transaction data flows from your financial institution through Plaid to your device. Our relay server facilitates that connection in real time but does not persistently store your raw financial data. What you tag, how you reflect, and what your spending patterns reveal about your life stays yours.

We collect only what is necessary to deliver the App and its optional premium features. We do not sell your data. We do not share your financial data with advertisers. We do not profile you.

2. What We Collect

Financial Data (Retrieved via Plaid, Stored Locally)

When you connect a bank account, ThenAllocate retrieves the following through Plaid and stores it locally on your device:

• Transactions: Amounts, dates, merchant names, Plaid-assigned categories, and payment channel
• Account Information: Account name, type (checking, credit, etc.), last four digits of account number, institution name
• Balances: Current and available balances at time of sync

This data passes through our relay server in transit (see Section 6) and is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. It is not persistently stored on our servers.

Allocation and Tagging Data (Created by You, Stored Locally)

All data you create within the App is stored locally on your device:

• Narrative labels you assign to transactions
• Alignment tags (Aligned, Reserve, Overhead, Leak)
• Provision categories and names (premium)
• Ledger Tags and groups (premium)
• Transaction notes
• Manual accounts and transactions you enter
• Weekly reflection status and timestamps
• Rules and recurring transaction configurations

Premium Subscription Data

If you purchase ThenAllocate+:

• Transaction Identifiers: RevenueCat processes subscriptions and receives anonymous transaction identifiers to verify your premium status
• Subscription Status: The App stores whether you have an active premium subscription
• No Personal Information: We do not receive your name, email, payment details, or other personal identifiers through the subscription process

Technical Data

• Device Information: Device model and iOS version for compatibility
• Anonymous Crash Reports: Optional crash diagnostics via Apple's standard reporting (opt-in via iOS Settings)
• Anonymous Usage Analytics: Anonymized, non-personally-identifiable signals about feature usage and app lifecycle events. All identifiers are cryptographically hashed before leaving your device. The content of your financial data, tags, or notes is never sent. Analytics are processed by TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused, GDPR-compliant analytics provider based in the EU.

Support Communications

If you contact us for support, we may receive your email address and any information you choose to include.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

ThenAllocate does not collect, store, or transmit:

• Your banking username or password
• Full account numbers or routing numbers
• Social Security numbers or government identifiers
• Credit scores or credit reports
• Your transaction content, allocation tags, Narratives, or notes (these stay on your device)
• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Contact lists or social graphs
• Health or biometric data
• Third-party advertising identifiers
• Behavioral analytics linked to your identity
• Information about any other apps on your device

4. How We Use Information

Core App Functionality

• Sync transaction data from Plaid to your device when you refresh or open the App
• Store all financial data, allocations, and reflections locally on your device
• Process premium subscription status through RevenueCat
• Deliver local notifications for weekly reflection prompts (if enabled)
• Apply rules to auto-tag incoming transactions on your device

Support and Improvement

• Respond to support requests you initiate via email
• Fix bugs identified through anonymous crash reports
• Ensure App compatibility with iOS updates
• Understand aggregate, anonymous feature usage patterns to improve the App experience

5. Financial Data and Plaid

How Plaid Works

ThenAllocate uses Plaid Technologies, Inc. to connect to your financial institutions. When you connect a bank account:

1. Plaid presents a secure authentication interface directly with your financial institution
2. Your credentials are entered directly into Plaid's interface — ThenAllocate never sees them
3. Plaid retrieves a token that allows ThenAllocate to request your transaction and account data
4. That token is stored locally on your device and used for subsequent syncs
5. Transaction and account data is retrieved via our relay server and stored locally on your device

Plaid's Data Practices

Plaid has its own privacy policy and data practices independent of House of Then, LLC. You can review Plaid's End User Privacy Policy at https://plaid.com/legal/end-user-privacy-policy. You can manage and revoke Plaid's access to your financial institutions at https://my.plaid.com.

What Happens When You Disconnect

When you disconnect a bank account within ThenAllocate:

• The Plaid Item (connection token) is removed from your device and from Plaid's system via our relay server
• Your existing local transaction history and allocations are preserved on your device
• The active connection between Plaid and your financial institution is severed
• Plaid may retain previously downloaded transaction data per their own retention policy

To fully manage Plaid's access to your data, you can visit your financial institution's connected apps settings or https://my.plaid.com.

6. Relay Server and App Attest

Purpose of the Relay Server

ThenAllocate communicates with Plaid's API through a relay server operated by House of Then, LLC. The relay server exists to:

• Keep Plaid API credentials out of the App binary (they are never included in the App distributed to users)
• Facilitate real-time transaction sync requests between the App and Plaid

App Attest Authentication

All communication between ThenAllocate and the relay server is authenticated using Apple's App Attest framework. This means:

• Only legitimate, unmodified copies of ThenAllocate distributed through the App Store can communicate with our relay server
• Modified or spoofed versions of the App cannot retrieve your financial data through our infrastructure
• Your device generates a cryptographic attestation that is verified by our relay server before any Plaid request is processed

What the Relay Server Does Not Do

• The relay server does not persistently store your raw transaction data
• The relay server does not log or record your financial information beyond what is necessary to process the request in real time
• The relay server does not have access to your allocation tags, Narratives, Provisions, notes, or any data you create within the App

7. Data Storage and Security

Local-First Architecture

All financial data, allocation data, and personal reflections are stored in a SQLite database on your device using iOS secure local storage. No ThenAllocate servers store your personal financial data. Data persists through App updates but is removed when you delete the App.

Security Measures

• Local data is protected by iOS's built-in security and device encryption
• Data is sandboxed and inaccessible to other apps on your device
• Relay server communication is authenticated via App Attest for every request
• No financial data is transmitted to third-party servers beyond the relay server's real-time Plaid API calls
• Regular security reviews of our codebase and relay server infrastructure

Device Security

Your device is the primary security boundary for your financial data. Anyone with access to your unlocked device can view your connected financial data within ThenAllocate. We strongly recommend using a device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.

8. Third-Party Services

Plaid Technologies, Inc.

Purpose: Bank account connection and transaction data retrieval
Data Shared: Authentication tokens; Plaid retrieves transaction and account data from your financial institution on your behalf

Data Shared: Anonymous app user ID and transaction identifiers

TelemetryDeck (Product Analytics)

Purpose: Anonymous, privacy-first product analytics
Data Shared: Cryptographically hashed identifiers and anonymous event data — TelemetryDeck cannot identify you personally

TelemetryDeck is GDPR-compliant, based in the European Union, and does not sell or share data with third parties. The content of your financial data, allocation tags, or notes is never included in analytics events.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Access and Control

• View: All your financial data and allocations are visible within the App
• Export: Your allocation and transaction data can be accessed at any time within the App
• Delete: Remove individual transactions, allocations, or all data in Settings
• Disconnect: Remove bank connections at any time through the Accounts tab
• Portability: Your local data travels with your device backups

Data Deletion

• Delete Allocations: Remove individual tags and notes within the App
• Disconnect Banks: Remove bank connections through Accounts tab; this revokes Plaid's token
• Delete All Local Data: Deleting the App removes all locally stored financial data permanently

Subscription Management

• Cancel Subscription: Manage ThenAllocate+ through iOS Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions
• Restore Purchases: Use "Restore Purchases" in App Settings to restore premium access on a new device

10. Regional Privacy Protections

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident:

• Right to Know: You can request details about the personal information we collect
• Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information
• Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information, so no opt-out is required
• Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

Since ThenAllocate stores financial data locally on your device, you already have direct control. Deleting the App or disconnecting accounts exercises your deletion rights. To exercise formal rights, contact privacy@houseofthen.com.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland:

• Legal Basis: We process data based on your consent (bank connection, subscription) and legitimate interests (App functionality)
• Data Portability: Your local data is accessible and can be removed at any time
• Right to Erasure: Delete data within the App or by uninstalling
• Data Minimization: We collect only what is necessary for App functionality

To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@houseofthen.com. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.

11. Children's Privacy

ThenAllocate is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information or connected bank accounts through ThenAllocate, please contact us immediately at privacy@houseofthen.com.

12. Data Retention

Local Financial and Allocation Data

Transaction data, allocations, Narratives, Provisions, and all other data you create remains on your device indefinitely until you delete it. Deleted data is immediately removed and cannot be recovered. Deleting the App removes all local data permanently.

Support Communications

Support emails are retained for service quality and legal compliance, then deleted after resolution unless legally required to maintain.

Subscription Records

Managed by RevenueCat according to their retention policies, necessary for subscription management and fraud prevention.

Relay Server Logs

The relay server may retain minimal operational logs (request timestamps, error codes) for debugging and security purposes. These logs do not contain your financial data, transaction details, or personal identifiers. Logs are retained for no more than 30 days.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy, provide in-app notification for significant changes, and request consent where legally required. Your continued use of ThenAllocate after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of California and the United States. By using ThenAllocate, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
